She was put to sleep on May 5th, 2009. She was definably different from other rats we've had; more stand-offish, hated to be held by anyone (or touched, really), not very interested in getting to know you. She was my stuck up lady, and putting her down was hard to do. I was thankful for my teacher, Barbie, for helping me out and administering the drug that stopped her pain, and understanding my tears.
So far as I could guess, I'd say it was probably liver failure, or something along that line. She had rapidly lost weight, showed little interest in food, and slowly started losing motor functions. She had agonal breathing, and was starting to go cold in her extremities. It was a hard choice to make, but I knew it was the right one to make when she no longer tried to squirm away when I touched her.
She's buried at a friend's house in Kentucky, the one I'll be living in for my last semester.
I'm making a pair of socks, kind of in memorandum for her. I designed the lace pattern myself, and the pattern will be available either for free, or a small amount of money. I'm knitting the socks in a dusty rose pink, which I think is perfect for her.
The post I promised before will come before next week, I've been busier than I thought, and I wanted to get new (and better) pictures of all my projects for the year so far.
Thanks for reading this.
